Will Panama tax the income of pensioners or retirees from abroad?      BACK TO TOP
Under no circumstance Panama will tax income on pensioners or retirees from abroad. The territorial Panamanian tax system is still in place and has been in place for dacades. This territorial tax system clearly states that all income generated abroad is tax exempt or tax free, since it's considered offshore. (Panama's tax system strictly forbids taxation on offshore generated income.)

As a matter of fact, Panama benefits all pensioners or retirees with senior discounts on restaurants, hotels, medicines, and other services ranging between 10% and 25%, which directly or indirectly offset sales taxes (Panama has a sales tax of 5%, although these do not apply to restaurants that do not have a liquor license).
